Hey all you Mad Westies! Listen up, ‘cuz this is important. We are privileged to have an international West Coast Swing weekend-long event in our very own back yard coming up in July, so save the date. July 18-22nd is Miami Dance Magic 2013.

The event is directed by Bruce and Beth Perrotta, whom you may remember from when they were guest instructors for our 3rd Saturday Dance.

The event has several competitions, including a WSDC registered Jack and Jill competition at all levels, so all those mock Jack and Jills we’ve been doing will come in handy. And if you haven’t participated in them yet, it’s not too late to start.

We’ll keep you updated of any news with our in-class announcements, but make sure to keep that weekend free to dance like you’ve never danced before!

Come learn to dance West Coast Swing at our weekly lesson this Thursday, February 28th, at Shall We Dance studio in Deerfield Beach. (But even if you’re in Fort Lauderdale, Davie, or Boynton beach, or any other nearby location, this is swing dancing you don’t want to miss.) Free for those under 30!

Based on demand, we are currently offering two (sometimes three) separate levels:

• Fundamentals with Fabio for anyone coming for the first time
• Beginner/Intermediate with Dori and Jay for those still learning their basics
• Depending on demand, advanced with Kevin.

Class starts at 8:00pm, with a dance at 9:00pm. Check out the Dance Night page for more info

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we’re encouraging everyone to bring a friend and maybe help spark some new acquaintances To that end, not only is the lesson and dance free for anyone under 30 as usual, but we’ll also be making it free to anyone that is new to Mad Westie. So go on and help grow our community by bringing some new friends to the dance!

The lesson and dance are this Thursday, February 7th, at Shall We Dance studio in Deerfield Beach.

• Beginner with Dori and Jay for those still learning their basis (Dori is out this week, so Jay will be leading the class, assisted by Nancy Price)
